I am very fortunate to have such a cool little place to do my artwork. After learning I would be spending a lot of time at home recovering and not being able to drive for a year my lovely husband had this little summerhouse built for me. It's a place I can escape to and just be myself. Its really relaxing and soothing and always feels like I'm on holiday when I step inside. It's been such a helpful space for me to go when I am feeling so many different things. I have a little alter set up for my meditation, a day bed for resting or for friends if they want to come stay over and my desk area which overlooks a corner of my garden set up with plenty of bird feeders and a bird bath. Its taken the birds some time to feel safe coming to the feeding station but all day long I get visitors right up-to my window, its very peaceful and calming.
I'd love eventually to open this space to others who would like a quiet relaxing spot to sit and do their crafts or meditate and enjoy the space with me. Its a real silver lining to what we have gone through as a family that benefits us all and I am so grateful everyday for it. It's certainly helped me be more creative and its hard to go back home some days when I am on a roll in here.
I've learnt through having this experience that your life can change so fast and unexpectedly. I was on a very different path before all this happened and it was a happy one. It's taken some time to adjust and find new happiness in my new life and I now realise the importance of accepting impermanence and living in the moment, valuable lessons I would of never appreciated otherwise.
